The U.S. legal cannabis market, comprised of 11 operating adult-use markets and 27 medical-only states, had combined cannabis sales of $24.6 billion in 2021, according to the 2022 Leafly Jobs Report. That figure of nearly $25 billion in 2021 cannabis sales ranks ahead of energy drinks ($20 billion), milk ($16 billion), and orange juice ($10 billion). For additional context, beer ($94 billion), wine ($78 billion), and nutritional supplements ($55 billion) all ranked ahead of cannabis sales in 2021.
